- Our faculty members are mentors, facilitators, coaches, friends and educators of children. They have a demonstrated passion for fostering learning environments for children and are actively engaged with children during the learning process. Therefore, everyone at A School for Children is a continuous learner.
- A School for Children supports families in many ways, including after-school care and early morning supervision of children. We also try to provide a one-stop shop for an array of extra-curricular learning opportunities (e.g. piano, band, freestyle art).
- We incorporate community service projects into the regular curriculum for students at every level.
- Our curriculum is designed to meet diverse learning needs. We measure our success by the benchmarked progress of each student. While we do not participate in the misuse of standardized testing, we do use standardized tests to measure student growth in comparison with expected norms.
- Our campus has wireless connectivity and each classroom maintains extensive leveled-reading libraries.
- Students at A School for Children and The Vertical High School Academy learn in small classes. They participate in small groups, one-on-one instruction and independent learning throughout the day.
- Our school environment reflects an array of diversities. We celebrate the cultures and experiences of our student body. Additionally, our curriculum reflects immersion in cultural diversity of the world in which we live. Understanding others and accepting differences are key to building healthy relationships and communication.
